(A weird feeling)

"A distortion or a disease or an abnormality always makes something start happening in the brain. It´s really interesting!" (David Lynch)

David Lynch is one of this kind of genius that through all his filmography, he has never left anybody with indifference. I refer to the ones that have decided to enjoy some of his movies, without trying to understand them.

To state that he is a mental case, there is no need to be a neurologist, not even a family doctor. What is completely true is that, perhaps, this formal education could be helpful to understand what comes through his mind daily, what he thinks when he doesn´t think, and when he doesn´t think, what forgets.

Normally his movies are incomprehensibly comprehensible, or what is exactly the same but just the opposite, comprehensibly incomprehensible. Anyway, to be honest, they hook me up, and what it´s more arguable, I like being pleased to them.

Yesterday, during my trip to "inland empire", nothing seemed to have sense, but once again, and it´s in here where his magic lies in, in the course of the time, that meaningless became more reasonable, even sometimes I´d dare to say it became comprehensible.

Dudas

(Doubts)

Last Saturday, while awaiting for a friend in a corner of Portobello Road I stared, by chance, a poster hanging on a streetlamp. In that moment, a woman appeared walking through the pavement. She stopped her way next to the lamp, leaned her shopping bags on the floor and doubted for long moment.

Sinceramente, irrepetible.

(Neon Bible)

Yesterday afternoon, I went to Brixton to watch a concert. I met a friend to enjoy a couple of drinks before the show started. We went inside the first pub we found by the way and ordered a bottle of wine. At the same time we were pouring some wine into our glasses, a man that was sitting down next to us asked about which band we were gonna watch. After a short explanation, we began to talk about a title, the new Arcade Fire´s album, "Neon Bible". The thing is that, surprisingly for me, or for him, we stopped talking about the canadian band and we started to talk about an american writer, John Kennedy Toole, who had written at the age of sixteen a fantastic book with the same title. Without any reason, suddenly, our conversation was diverted and we started to debate about the reasons why a good novel never ensures a good film. At the end, as I expected, we didn´t reach any conclusion, but we finished nearby.

What we watched yesterday at the Brixton Academy I don´t know if it´s worth a movie or the best never told story. Just when the show was closed down, one of the best I have seen in my life, the people was leaving the place singing to themselves, in unison, some of the songs. The gig seemed to be finished, but not all.

The experience was both mindblowing and religious.

Sincerely, unrepeatable.

(Incomprehension)

London is a city full of contrasts. Walking by the street you have the image of a plural, cosmopolitan and multicultural city where everyone that goes around feels like at home. At the same time, this feeling is mixed with another one: the incomprehension. So that, all the adjectives that usually come together to describe what ´s the meaning of living in this city, most of the times, they only work to beat the bush.

If you go out here in the street, it´s true that probably you´ll find all kind of different things, in all the shapes and colours, but the fact that is misunderstood by all the friends of the plural, the ones with cosmopolitan mind and multicultural soul, is that there´s no need to come here to undestand that the world cannot be explained only by the things that we see, but by the way we understand them.

Is there anything more plural in this world than trying to look at the same reality from different perspectives? Perhaps not. One thing it´s out of doubt: the easiest task is look at it, the hardest, understand it, just like it is.

Londongrado

(Londongrad)

Although it seems a fake, the next story is a true story. It happened here in London, at the end of last Autumn, and as his main character said before his death, the plot seemed to be true, but it sounded more like a movie.

On 1 November 2006, Alexander Litvinenko suddenly fell ill and was hospitalised. He died three weeks after. Later tests showed that his death was related to a radioactive substance called polonium -210. Scotland Yard said the incident was treated "under highly suspicious circumstances". Then, the police investigations started, the authorities were admitting at the same time they were denying, the british press published at top-speed and myself enjoyed, probably, one of the most fascinating thrillers of the last year. Not because its plot, uncommonly extraordinary, but because the proximity of the facts.

Without going any further, the radiation-proof coffin with the convert ex-spy´s body was buried in the Highgate cementery, 1o minutes away from my house.

As it was expected, Hollywood has hurried up and bought the rights of this true-story. They want to recreate the story of this extraordinary murder to make a movie with Johnny Deep playing the spy role through the streets of Londongrad. I´m sure they will transform the story into a more credible one, but its plot will never be as true as the spy himself admitted to one of his informer at the same time he was enjoying the favourite meal of this city: the sushi.

(All bets are in)

Monday morning. One more week, some people face the working routine with renewed energy after having enjoyed a deserved and pleasant rest, others, meanwhile, suffer the consequences of the different excesses committed during the weekend.

Needless to say.

(The awakening)

Today I´ve awoken. I turned the everyday-light-switch on and I´ve been dazzling surprised when I took a look up in my room´s sky. Could it be a sign?

Duérmete junto a mí
Y quién podrá descansar junto a ti
