Hoxton Square

Hoxton Square no es una plaza cualquiera. Situada en el distrito de Hackney, al noreste de la ciudad, es uno de los epicentros de la nueva ola londinense. Antiguo refugio de traficantes, prostitutas y maleantes del East End en general, la plaza, un tanto lúgubre y peligrosa hace unos años, ha ido maquillando su imagen a base de ir alojando todo tipo de bares, estudios y galerías que han ido abriendo sus puertas de la noche a la mañana para celebrar el boom de las nuevas tecnologías y la llegada de la era digital .com. Las calles se han infectado de artistas, diseñadores y amigos de la buena vida, gente con recursos que se mezclan con aquellos que carecen de ellos, quienes por orgullo se resisten a abandonar su territorio. Tarde o temprano terminarán por emigrar, tanto los unos como los otros, porque al hablar de modas, en esta ciudad el ayer será mañana, y el mañana ya es hoy.

Hoxton Square is not a common square. Located in the neighbourhood of Hackney, north-east of the city, it´s the centre of the London´s new fashionable wave. Former shelter for drugdealers, sluts and thugs from the East End in general, the square, quite dreary and dangerous years ago, has made up itself with a range of bars, studios and galleries that have been opening their doors all at once to celebrate the arise of the the new-tech and the arrival of the new digital era. The streets have been infected by all-kind of artists, designers and high-life´s friends, people with loads of support mixed with those who have no means at all, but proud of their territory, they are still fighting to resist. Sooner or later they will move, both, ´coz when talking about trends, in this city yesterday is tomorrow, and tomorrow is already today.
