Moto-taxis

El tema de los atascos es un tema bastante recurrente aquí en Bangkok. De ahí que una vez más los vuelva a citar. Ésta vez, trataré de explicar cómo yo juego a evitarlos diariamente. Sobra decir que no es tarea fácil, ya que al menor despiste, te encuentras sumergido saboreando dicha mermelada, pero tampoco es imposible.

Afortunadamente son múltiples los medios de transporte que uno tiene a su disposición para combatir dichas retenciones. A pie, en taxi, tuk-tuk, en metro, en skytrain, en bus, en barcaza, y sobre todo en moto. El secreto del éxito no es otro que combinarlos según las condiciones de la vía, y en época de lluvias, también del tiempo.

En mayor o menor medida, todos los medios de transporte anteriormente enumerados tienen ventajas e inconvenientes, dependiendo de su comodidad, rapidez y precio. Y también del factor riesgo. Como no podía ser de otra manera, éste último factor (sobre ruedas) es directamente proporcional a la velocidad a la que se circule por la vía. De todos ellos, he escogido la moto-taxi, por ser el más versátil, y también el más peligroso. El caso es que subido a una moto-taxi, a la variable de los km/h, aquí en Bangkok se añade la pericia del piloto para esquivar todo tipo de vehículos (y de paso salir victorioso del juego del atasco).

Enfundados en su distintivos chalecos naranjas, y condicionados habitualmente por el número de cervezas que hayan ingerido en sus ratos libres, es alucinate experimentar la forma que tienen de pilotar los moto-taxistas . Y cuando digo esquivar me refiero a avanzar entre todo tipo de vehículos "limando" (por no decir rozando) con las rodillas el resto de vehículos que avanzan lentamente al ritmo del atasco. Un claro ejemplo que sirve para ilustrar la arriesgada realidad de la que os hablo, es fijarse en los retrovisores de la moto en la que viajo desde la que está tomada la imagen. Combatir los atascos, un juego divertido, como todos, y arriesgado, como pocos.

As it could not be otherwise, the latter factor (on wheels) is directly proportional to the speed at which is travelled through. From all of them, I have chosen the motorcycle taxi, because it is the most versatile, and also the most dangerous.
